EdTech
EdTech app development in India
EdTech app development is the building of learning platforms, course portals and student apps that deliver content, track progress and handle enrolment. Cognify, a Jaipur agency, builds these for EdTech founders and training businesses across India, and adds automation for onboarding, learner nudges and support so a small team can serve many learners.
Scope
What is included
Learner portal and course delivery
Sign-up, course catalogue, video and document lessons, quizzes and progress tracking, designed for a phone first because that is where many of your learners are.
Enrolment and payments
Plans, one-time purchases or cohort fees, coupon handling, invoices and access that switches on at payment and off when a plan ends.
Instructor and admin tools
Instructors upload lessons, review submissions and see which learners are stuck. Admins manage cohorts, content and refunds without a developer.
Onboarding and engagement automation
Welcome sequences, nudges to learners who have not opened a lesson, and reminders before live sessions, sent by WhatsApp or email on rules you control.
Learner support assistant
An assistant that answers questions from your course material and policies, cites where the answer came from, and passes the rest to a human.
Analytics you can act on
Where learners drop off, which lessons are replayed, which cohorts finish. Events are defined with you so the numbers answer decisions, not curiosity.
Why it matters
Problems this solves
Learners enrol, then vanish
Completion drops when nobody notices a learner has gone quiet. Automated nudges based on activity bring many back, and the instructor sees the cases that need a personal message.
Support grows with enrolment
Questions about access, schedules and course content pile up. An assistant grounded in your own material answers the routine ones, and your team handles the rest.
A platform hard to change
Off-the-shelf learning tools work until your model needs something they do not allow. Building the core on your own code lets the product follow your teaching method, not the other way round.
Illustration
Example: a learner nudge
An illustration of an engagement rule. The course, names and timings are invented and this is not a client record.
- Day 0Learner starts Module 3, then stops.
- Day 4No activity. A WhatsApp message offers a link back to the exact lesson.
- Day 7Still nothing. An email from the instructor asks if anything is blocking them.
- Day 10The learner is added to the mentor's call list with their progress and last lesson.
- On returnThe sequence stops and the learner is not messaged again for that module.
The instructor only contacts learners the rules could not bring back.
Process
How we work
Define the learner journey
We map the path from first visit to finished course, decide which steps need a person, and list the minimum a first cohort needs.
Prototype the core experience
You click through the key screens on a phone, such as sign-up, a lesson and a quiz, before we build the full platform.
Build in releases
A usable first release goes to a small group of learners. We watch real usage and adjust before opening wider.
Automate the repeated work
Once we see which messages and questions repeat, we automate them with rules your team can read and change.
Scale and measure
We review load, drop-off and support volume with you, and plan the next features from data.
Results
Example outcomes
A learner platform that loads quickly on mid-range phones and ordinary mobile data.
Learners who go quiet are noticed and contacted without anyone watching a spreadsheet.
Instructors who see progress and stuck points in one view.
Support questions answered from your course material, with a human for the rest.

Technology we use
Learning platforms need fast pages, reliable video delivery and clean data. We pick proven services for the heavy parts and write the product logic ourselves.
Services that fit
- Web & Mobile App DevelopmentThe learner portal, instructor tools and mobile app that make up the platform.
- AI & AutomationOnboarding, nudges and reminders that run on learner activity.
- RAG & LLM SolutionsA support assistant that answers from your lessons, notes and policies, with sources shown.
- Custom SolutionsCohort management, mentor workflows or assessment rules that no packaged tool offers.
Pricing
How we price this
A course site with payments is a smaller project than a multi-instructor platform with live sessions, certificates and a mobile app. Price follows the number of learner and admin roles, the content types you deliver, the integrations you need and the expected load.
We suggest launching a focused first release to a pilot cohort. You receive a written estimate for that release, then plan the next phase from what real learners do.
FAQ
Questions, answered
Should we build our own platform or use a ready-made LMS?
A ready-made LMS is quicker if its model fits yours. A custom platform is worth considering when your teaching method, pricing or experience is the reason learners choose you. We will tell you honestly which side your case falls on.
Can you build both the website and the mobile app?
Yes. We usually start with a web platform that works well on phones, then add a mobile app when usage justifies it, so you do not pay for two builds before you have learners.
How do learners pay, and what about GST invoices?
We integrate a payment gateway such as Razorpay and generate receipts or invoices on payment. How tax is handled on your invoices is a decision for your accountant, and we build the format they specify.
Can an AI assistant answer questions from our course material?
Yes. It retrieves relevant parts of your lessons and policies and answers from them, showing the source. When it cannot find an answer, it says so and passes the question to your team.
Will the platform handle a sudden rise in learners?
We design with load in mind, using caching and hosted services for video and storage, and we test before a launch or a campaign. We discuss expected numbers with you early so the setup matches.
Who owns the code and the learner data?
Ownership terms are written into the agreement. Our default is that you own the source code built for you and the learner data, and we document the system so another team can maintain it.
